“Bright” is directed by David Ayer and it stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. The movie is based in a fantasy present in Los Angeles where elves, orcs, and other races live together after thousands of years of fighting. The movie revolves over Daryl Ward (played by Will Smith) and Nick Jakoby (played by Joel Edgerton) as they have to protect a person who can help them in saving the world. This movie was the only one I was excited for on Netflix. Most of the movies I have seen on Netflix have been average to poor. For its A-list actors and a good director, I was looking forward to this movie. This, however, did not turn out to be the case. The only positive thing I can find in the movie was the chemistry between Will’s and Joel’s character. Everything else was pretty bad the story was all over the place and had three different sub-plots going at it at the same time. Another problem this movie had was not having enough backstory for the movie. If this movie had a backstory on the location and how magical beings and modern humans are living together I would have understood the story. The pacing of the movie was all over the place, at times the movie would have really fast action scenes at times when they are just walking and talking and it feels like it’s going forever. It definitely felt like that during the second act. The movie lost me that I lost interested in the third act.
Overall, I would not recommend this movie to watch because I did not enjoy it. You might like for its story or action but for me, this is another Netflix movie that I did not enjoy.
